Job Description Certification Details - BLS - State Licensure relevant to Utah Mammography Tech Job Details - Performs radiographic mammography procedures to produce high quality diagnostic films for detecting breast tissue abnormalities. - Works independently without constant supervision, performing a variety of procedures requiring judgment, creativity, and initiative. - Ensures proper patient identification and order verification, prepares patients for exams. - Performs radiologic mammography exams per department protocol including advanced procedures like stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages. - Operates mammographic equipment to produce high quality diagnostic images. - Uses equipment appropriately, maneuvers unit, and selects techniques for diagnostic imaging. - Applies radiation protection measures to ensure safety of patients and staff, meeting ALARA program requirements. - Keeps current on new procedures and equipment to maintain high skill level. - Maintains records required by JCAHO and Utah State Bureau of Radiation Control, including documentation, time stamps, and image storage. Job Requirements - Demonstrates positioning competency. - Knowledgeable about breast self-examinations, able to answer questions and provide written materials to patients. - Preferred experience in Imaging or Mammography. - Physical requirements include lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking. Additional Details - A personal radiation monitoring badge (dosimeter) is required for this assignment. - Providers are encouraged to use an existing badge from a previous employer or assignment when available. - If a new badge is issued, prior exposure history will not be reflected.
