Job Description Job Description This Accountant - Tax &
Compliance is responsible for managing the organization’s tax
compliance, preparing cadenced reporting to Senior Leadership, and
supporting broader accounting and financial duties. This role
ensures timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax
returns, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements,
supports internal audits, and advises leadership on tax
implications of business decisions. The position partners closely
with other Finance team members and the Executive Team and external
firms to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory adherence. This
position plays a critical role in protecting the organization from
regulatory exposure and ensuring the company remains compliant in
every state in which it operates. *This is an in-office position
with opportunities for a hybrid schedule post-onboarding. The
Day-to-Day: Support the company in being the Certified Public
Accountant on staff and ensure all accounting and financial
practices are compliant with GAAP best practices Prepare and file
federal, state, and local income and sales/use across multiple
states. Ensure timely payment of all tax liabilities and maintain a
comprehensive tax filing calendar. Monitor multi-state nexus and
evaluate tax exposure in new or expanding jurisdictions. Maintain
business registrations, Secretary of State filings, licenses, and
annual compliance requirements. Monitor changes in tax laws and
regulatory requirements, assess organizational impact, and then
advise senior leadership to ensure corporate strategies are
aligned. Prepare tax-related journal entries, reconciliations, and
supporting documentation. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and
annual close processes, including tax provisions and accruals.
Provide the final reports to Senior Leadership. Serve as primary
contact for tax audits and state inquiries. Collaborate with other
finance, accounting, and HR teams to ensure police and procedures
are adequately documented and followed. Maintain, organize, and
update tax/accounting databases and financial records. Maintain
internal controls and identify process improvements to reduce
compliance risk and improve efficiency. Requirements Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting,
or related field. 4 years of relevant experience in Tax Accounting.
Advanced experience with tax compliance software and other
accounting reporting software. Advanced proficiency with Excel and
accounting software. Strong business acumen with the ability to
provide expert insight into financial reporting. Position
Preferences MBA is a plus. Experience with the tax compliance
software AvaTax and payroll software Paylocity. Experience with
data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) Familiarity
with enterprise software industry dynamics, including SaaS business
models, subscription-based pricing strategies, and recurring
